Event | Davao City Coastal Road Segment 1: Ready for Inauguration

One of the big ticket projects in Davao City under the Build Build Build project of the government is the Davao City Coastal Road. It is expected, when completed, the coastal road will ease 30 minutes of travel time from Davao-Cotabato Road to R. Castillo Street of the city. That is really a good news and expected to cater 10,000 motorists every day when completed.

The video is from PTV New Mindanao and it says that the first segment of the Davao City Coastal Road is ready for inauguration anytime before the first quarter ends. This segment is from Bago Aplaya to Matina Aplaya that encompasses 2.3 kilometers with a budget of P2.8 billion. The said segment also has a bicycle lane that is going to invite more people to make bicycle as a mode of transport.

The segments (4) of this project includes: 1) Bago Aplaya to Matina Aplaya, as mentioned, 2) Times Beach, Ecoland, Matina Aplaya to Roxas Avenue, 3) Roxas Avenue to Sta. Ana Avenue, 4) Sta. Ana Avenue to R. Castillo St. in Agdao District.

Estimated cost of the project, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XI, is around P19.8 billion that will have a total of 18.50 kilometers road access. Of this total project deliverable, the Regional DPWH has said that it is already 36.8% completed with a target year of completion in the year 2023. That is going to be 6 years in the making as the project has started in the year 2017.

The road is temporarily closed to the public until it is inaugurated. I am among those excited individuals to pass by this coastal road as part of Davao City's development report for my viewers in my YouTube channel as JoyoftheWorld. Indeed, it is really an amazing project that will really benefit many motorists and easing the traffic volume in many roads within the city.
