Sports | Filipe Azevedo and Sarah Crowley Dominate IRONMAN 70.3 in Davao City

Davao City, Philippines - Alveo IRONMAN 70.3 in Davao City showcased incredible athleticism and endurance as the world's top triathletes converged to compete in the race. The season's kickoff has come to a close as Portuguese Filipe Azevedo crossed the finish line to claim the title as the overall winner.

The IRONMAN 70.3 race, known for its challenging terrain and distance, saw Azevedo put in an exceptional effort throughout the 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride, and 21.1km run. The triathlete established an early lead in the swim portion of the race and never looked back, holding onto their advantage all the way to the finish line.

Azevedo, who hails from Portugal, secured his victory by crossing the finish line first with a time of 3:51:10, narrowly edging out is Ognjen Stojanovic from Serbia who finished 3:52:29. Tuan Chun Chang from Taiwan rounded out the top three finishers in the pro-male category with a time of 3:57:13.

Meanwhile, Professional triathlete Sarah Crowley from Australia dominated the pro-female category, finishing with a time of 4:20:15 and beating out her closest competitor, Lauren Brandon from the USA who finished 4:22:50. Professional triathlete Lottie Lucas from UAE secured the third position in the category, finishing with a time of 4:25:10.

Sharing the podium were IRONMAN 70.3 male and female overall winners Olivier Godart (M45-49) and Sophie Kirk (F30-34) other age-group winners, Chris Weeks (Male 30-34), Christopher Mascarenhas Keyes (30-34), Alex Woodman (30-34), Chen Li (35-39), Rhia Stawicki (Female 30-34), Anna Gorbacheva (35-39), Leyann Ramo (30-34), Agnieszka Najnigier-Pierzynowska (40-44).
