Digital Lifestyle: Globe Network Upgrade on Full Steam!

During the SONA 2020 of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, it has urged the existing telcos to have services improved and reached many with satisfaction. It has become a challenge which Globe Telecom openly accepted. Among the steps they have taken are here:

Globe has secured at least 252 permits from local government units to complement its target to build more cell towers in key areas of the country in the last quarter of the year.

The provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Isabela, South Cotabato, Pangasinan, Misamis Oriental and Bataan gave the most permits among the provinces while Manila, Mandaluyong and Paranaque topped the cities for October.

“We are always grateful for the support of these LGUs that recognize our network expansion efforts because at the end of the day, their constituents will be the main beneficiaries of better connectivity and wider coverage,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

Cavite issued 30 permits, Batangas gave 20 while Laguna added 19 more. Rizal, Bulacan, Isabela, South Cotabato, Pangasinan, Misamis Occidental, Bataan and Cagayan granted at least five permits or more.

Manila topped the list of cities with 12 permits, followed by Mandaluyong with 10 and Paranaque with 6.

Overall, Globe gained at least one permit in 27 provinces and 25 cities to include South Cotabato, Misamis Occidental, Guimaras, Antique, Agusan del Sur, Abra, Daangbantayan and Minglanilla in Cebu to mention a few.

The company has laid out a 3-pronged strategy for its network upgrades and expansion, which includes aggressive cell site builds; upgrading its cell sites to 4G/LTE using many different frequencies; and fast tracking the fiberization of Filipino homes nationwide.

Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically UNSDG No. 9 which emphasizes the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.

Indeed, with these steps, we are seeing a brighter future in the industry of telecommunications with faster internet connection. Even with an upcoming third telco, that will also do the same services, Globe Network will still be competitive and with constant upgrade.
