Food | Interesting Chocolate-infused Meal at AirAsia Flights

The Philippines AirAsia has just revealed its newest dish for its in-flight menu known as Santan. The dish is made by the rockstar chef of the Philippines, Chef JP Anglo, which will be served starting the 12th of April 2018. The dish will be known as the Roasted Dalandan Chicken with Pimiento Sauce.
Roasted Dalandan Chicken with Pimiento Sauce
Roasted Dalandan Chicken with Pimiento Sauce is not an ordinary dish that will be served for a limited time. Yes, the dish is infused with a world-class chocolate of the Malagos chocolates with some sweet chili and soy taste. This is a taste of the Philippines’ offering in the Santan menu with a very extraordinary fusion of ingredients, but very tasty! Santan menu is a mix of different ASEAN dish favorites like the Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice and Thai Green Curry.

AirAsia's newest in-flight menu will be available among domestic and international flights in the Philippines with the Z2 flight code. There will be an option for passengers to book it online, while purchasing the tickets to save around 20% of its price, or order during the flight - but isn’t guaranteed of availability, better reserve online. So, the option for those who have booked their flights earlier, they can avail of the discounted hot meals by logging in to www.airasia.com and select “Manage My Booking”. I am sure that is pretty easy. :-p

According to Chef JP Anglo, the dish is inspired for bringing a home grown product like the Malagos Chocolates to greater heights. The techniques used are also very Filipino like the grilling of the chicken meat and some essential ingredients like the pimiento for caramelization and aroma. The surprise of how it is done mixing the chocolate in the sauce is by adding “bridge” ingredients like soy sauce, vinegar and a special broth. The taste of the sauce is really surprising! I mean, upon tasting it, there’s the spice, chocolate, soy battling for the taste. That’s an experience!

AirAsia as a champion low-cost carrier airline in the region and the Malagos Chocolate as reknowned one of the best chocolates in the world have met in the sky and let the passengers experience the service of AirAsia and taste of the Roasted Dalandan Chicken with Pimiento Sauce made with the Malagos chocolates.

Event | #AirAsiaRedTalks: Inspire and Connect People in Social Media

AirAsia Team with the Davao Digital Influencers and Media
Finally, after a successful season last year, the second season is up for #AirAsiaRedTalks!

Some media personalities and influencers from Cebu, Davao and Manila were invited to come and witness the launching of the newest season of #AirAsiaRedTalks! I am one of the influencers from Davao City invited for the event and this really excites me. Why? Here’s why…

Daphne Hosting
#AirAsiaRedTalks is a series of web episodes shown at AirAsia’s Facebook page every last Saturday of the month that starting February, 24, 2018. This is hosted by the very talented and multi-awarded host, Daphne OseƱa-Paez, who happens to be one of my exemplars in hosting. Who wouldn’t be excited with this, right? Seeing and listening to her in person is such a grace.

This season will bring more meaningful connections, stories and tastes. This season still has six episodes that showcase variety of interesting topics. For its opening salvo, it has shown “Sweet Connections”, which was starred by the award-winning Malagos Chocolates. This is also a thing that I am excited of. It is because another thing from Davao will be showcased and served in the future flights of AirAsia’s Santan menu - especially on April 2018 for a limited time! Chef JP Anglo, a very creative chef, and Daphne traveled to Davao to create a special dish using the Malagos chocolate. Isn’t that interesting? Of course, it is! Haven’t seen the episode yet, check it here!

Event | New AirAsia Davao - Kuala Lumpur Route Officiated

Davao to Kuala Lumpur Route Officiated
Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines is one of the international gateways of the Philippines in the southern island. It is a welcome development when more investors are coming in and open more opportunities to explore the potential of the city. One of which is AirAsia’s new air route of Davao City to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is pretty exciting!

AirAsia currently officiated the recently launched route from Davao City to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that operates four (4) times a week. A press conference was held wherein Hon. Sara Duterte-Carpio, Davao City Mayor; Eden Josephine L. David, Tourism Assistant Secretary; Aireen Omar, AirAsia Deputy Group CEO - Digital, Transformation, Corporate Services and Riad Asmat, AirAsia Berhad CEO attended.

Aireen Omar
According to Aireen Omar, “AirAsia is excited about our first international route to Davao. We do not only connect Davao to Malaysia, but we also bring Davao closer to our extensive network of destinations in ASEAN, Northeast Asia, South Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and the US.” I agree with her remarks as AirAsia Malaysia hub is sprawling with so much number of travelers all around the globe with its massive network. ASEAN Pass is one thing that I am very excited about - hopefully Davao route is included - very soon! Omar added, “We are committed to growing tourism beyond the most famous tourism hotspots. We look forward to work closely with the Davao City Mayor, airport authorities and government bodies to put Davao on the map of must-visit destinations in ASEAN.”

Hon. Sara Duterte-Carpio
The City Government of Davao also responded that it is ready to welcome visitors from Malaysia. There are efforts of strengthening more Halal-compliant establishments, security, law and order, traffic, transportation and many other essential activities for sustainability. Really, there are high hopes for this!

AirAsia is the all-time World’s Best Low-cost Airline winner for 9 consecutive years already. Celebratory all-in-fares of one-way Davao to Kuala Lumpur route are seen at P1599 available online with flying period now until July 31, 2018.
