Travel Tip | Save Miles for Future Travels

Inspire to Fly - Travel
Hear ye, hear ye, behold, seat sale of airlines in the Philippines! Happy Valentine’s! :-)

There are frequent travelers who are very fond of saving up miles that can be used for future travels. Yes, that includes me! In my previous day job, there are domestic travels that helped me save up some points since my work necessitates it. More travel, meaning, more points saved! LOL

Maybe, you ignore some marketing people at the airport presenting cards of several airlines telling about this and that, you earn this and those and etc. But, take it from me, DON’T IGNORE THEM! They are giving you an opportunity to take advantage of perks that you can avail while you enjoy (even not) flying with them. I don’t know if these people are on for a quota but they are giving it for free. You might regret it if one day, having those perks will cost some amount. :-p

Today, Valentine’s Day, some airlines are offering seat sales. Yes, in any destination you want, either domestic or international; just be quick to decide on where to go because airfare discounts like these sell like pancakes. If luck is not with you, try again! But, but, but…always remember that traveling means spending. You have to check your capacity and please do not resort to credit, credit, credit.

Anyways, all I want to say is, I am thankful with some points or miles I have earned before and even now. There are birthday travels I had that I got airfares for free and paying only taxes. There are sudden travel (international), too, that I booked using those points and the taxes covered! Isn’t it amazing?!!

Then, here comes the valentine seat sale, my points wallet is still good and enough, I am able to book two  (2) round trip tickets! One domestic trip that costs 6,000 points (1600 points for the base fare and 4200 points for the taxes) is not bad at all. Then, one international trip that costs 10,000 points (1600 points for the base fare and 8400 points for the taxes) is also not bad at all. Technically, I can say those are free flights! Just be patient in waiting for such perks and you will be glad to use some points or miles to your dream destination.

Always remember, your work may need you to travel a lot, but earning points or miles will reward you someday to your dream destination. Travel to allow yourself explore other areas and learn from there - it will help you widen your horizon. Travel within your means, it will keep your sanity. :-)

RSA: A Year with the Davao Digital Influencers and More!

Davao Digital Influencers, Inc. (DDI) is now on its 1st year! *horray!!!*

Being part of DDI means a lot to me. Personally, it is like...
...having an identity as a netizen promoting Davao in the country and in the whole world, the universe rather (borrowed from Queen Pia... lol).
...a passport for me to advance my presence in the cyber space introducing Davao.
...being authorized to make Davao known. ;-)

I have this feeling because, before, I question myself with what authority I have in promoting Davao but I am not really connected with an institution to do so. Yes, there's nothing wrong actually in promoting without any affiliation but it appears to me more as an advocacy and to advocate alone isn't powerful. Being with DDI, a group, it is more powerful!

There maybe other blogger groups in Davao and we have the same motive of bringing Davao in the spotlight. However, what I like more with DDI is that it a SEC registered entity, but don't get me wrong, there is no competition among groups, really, no competition but more groups that create Davao promotion amidst challenges. It is a preference of being with DDI and privileges for events is high. Also, DDI isn't just a blogging group; there are vloggers and influencers in other platforms like one's own page on social media.

On DDI's first year of existence, I may not be physically present to join the celebration, I am virtually present and with full support to the group! I expect more years to come!!!

We would like to thank our dear sponsors for supporting the 1st Anniversary of the Davao Digital Influencers Inc., to wit:

RSA | Exercise Your Memories Through Simple Ways

Not so long ago, our memories are so sharp, unless it isn't from the start. Anyways, just kidding... Seriously, our memories are better when we are younger and as we age, generally, our memories are a bit relaxing and thus some episodes of forgetfulness.

I am not an expert on neurological activities as to how memories last or pass, but I just want to share some points on how to exercise our memories in simple ways, perhaps just three (3) simple ways. I am sharing this one because I might forget it in the future. :-p

First, remember your password and try not to make computers remember your password. In this digital age, many of us are using social networking sites and even do online transactions like for a bank or other means of money transfer. Registering to these digital platforms will also mean that you have to login your username and password. There is an option for "remember password" among these sites, is it a fortunate or unfortunate option? Well, of course, it is a fortunate option since our memory will be relaxed and it is automatic, when you log to that site, your username and password are there in an instant and all we need to do it click that "login" or "sign in" button. However, it is unfortunate because computers can remember but the users may forget and worst, someone will access your account. I will not imply anything out of one's convenience to choose the "remember password" option. This is just a memory exercise. Every time you want to log in, insert your username and password, manually. For example, you are handling ten (10) online accounts and that would mean different username and password because sometimes it is imperative to change passwords for safety - still, insert your username and password manually. It will exercise our memories, believe me, it is just a simple way of exercising our memories. At first, we can have a copy of those username and password, but eventually, it has to be memorized unless changed.

Second, practice your enumeration skills. During examinations, enumeration is among the toughest memory test. Let's say, you have to enumerate ten (10) items but you only remember half or less than half of it, that really is a big thumbs down! Anyways, we will not do any tests here as we only do some practical practices to exercise our memories. Yes, that is right! Enumeration is not only used during examinations but also in real life situations. If you are already working, perhaps in an office, there are things that you really have to finish before the day ends. First thing we can do is to jot down things to do for that day or simply the "things-to-do" list. Primarily, the product of this exercise isn't about memory exercise but the memory exercise here is before doing things or the ability to enumerate things and achieve a day's work. Among people who can do multi-tasking here, it may be a different story. :-p

Third, increase and practice your vocabulary. Generally, there are ways, practices or words when not practiced are subconsciously forgotten. But in this exercise, we shall be talking about communication, yes, about learning and practicing old or new words. Reading is really a powerful practice to improve and widen our vocabulary. But not all love to read though, but reading helps a lot. If not through reading, play with words with a crossword puzzle or find words in a pool of letters, then look for its meaning in the dictionary afterwards. Why I think it is among the simple ways to exercise our memories? It is because we do communicate everyday and it is really frustrating when people talk then suddenly, out of the blue, an unknown word is used to patch the conversation's lack of words to use or worse the right word is forgotten. I, too, am guilty of this! You know (even though you don't really know what I would mean... LOL).

Anyways, still, I am not implying something out of someone's convenience or nature. I am just simply sharing thoughts of how we can exercise our memories. Simple and doable amidst our busy life existence.

RSA: Scheme of Prioritization

There are prioritization schemes implemented in many public areas in the country. It is a good thing but abused by many. I do not say that it is bad but this is something that should be reviewed. This should be a scheme that has clear policies.

Most common prioritization scheme is with the queuing for a mass transport. I know what you are thinking, train stations! Yes, commonly, long queues are experienced in the train stations of Metro Manila and national railways, not only that, even among public utility vehicles either buses or jeepneys. However, there are so-called special lanes for pregnant women, disabled and elderly. I will not contest if there is an evidence of being such. But it irks me and anybody to see somebody who are obviously not a person with disability (PWD), pregnant or a senior citizen who can easily pass the special lane. I mean, many are commuters and it should be fair enough when it comes to queuing. However, such an unfortunate circumstance, many are for the survival to get in the transportation ahead other commuters. It is sickening.

I believe of a system and it should undergo such process like assessment, identification of the problem, plan, implementation and evaluation. It is a cycle. After the evaluation, there is a need to reassess things and go over again the process until the fitting system will be utilized. However, this is not well implemented in the systems of our public infrastructures and even among private institutions. Perhaps it should be initiated or sparked to be part of the system.

Everybody should help towards betterment of systems and become responsible in making the system work. It is a participatory commitment. Think of yourself and others around you - be sensitive that you are not alone - because as the popular saying says, "no man is an island."

I hope it will become a norm/culture. Better system so that things will be more organized.

I will appreciate if you will also share your insights. Enjoy my avenue, www.ten7avenue.com.

RSA: National Identification

The Philippines is almost at the end of its election season. National and local candidates are endearing the voters to put them on the positions available in the national and local government. Politics is interesting in the Philippines and it is gaining so much attention now among the young people who are often subjected as passive populace whenever the election season is on. It might be because the young age group are engaged with the social media wherein many politicians have tapped as well to make themselves (candidates) known in such a platform.
